What to Expect

What to expect when visiting It is never easy to visit a new church for the first time so we want to be as helpful as we can to make your experience a good one. The very first thing we’ll ask of you is this: relax. You’re with friends. We’re not going to flag you as a “newbie” or ask you to pray in public your first week. We want to do whatever we can to help ease the anxiety, and help you focus on your relationship with God. Many of our members will come and introduce themselves to you and welcome you here at our services.

Variety that’s what you’ll find when you visit our services. But one thing you should expect in our By HIS Grace Church is a personal, uplifting worship experience. Our services are geared for participation. We typically worship as we live, with enthusiasm.

Who is welcomeAt By HIS Grace Church Sunday worship experiences are designed to help people connect with God whether they have never tried church or have been following Jesus for years. Who ever you are and where ever you are on your Spiritual Journey you are welcome here.
The gospel is for all and we are all one in Christ.

Where are we locatedLakeview Town Hall.

What time do we meet?
Service starts at 10 a.m.
Coffee is on about 9 a.m. so it will be ready by 10.
Pastor Grace is there early if you want to talk.
Tables are being set up and chairs placed out at 9:15 a.m.

DressLet’s talk about dress. A few people dress up, but most people choose to be comfortable and come casual. People will be in t-shirts and jeans to a 3 piece suit. The Pastor likes sandals and being barefoot, others wear boots, heels, flip-flops to be comfortable. We do not worry about dress, we are here to learn and celebrate God’s love. Come the way that you feel most comfortable.

Music Music is a feature of our worship, before, during and even after the service itself. Any given service may include traditional hymns, hand-clapping gospel songs, contemporary compositions or reverent worshipful choruses.

Where to sitYou may sit anywhere, no seats are reserved. We sit at tables and enjoy coffee, water and snacks during the service. We want it to feel comfortable as we get personal with God.

Special NeedsThere are handicapped parking spaces right by the front door. The church is accessible to those needing wheelchairs or walkers. Once inside, wheelchairs can be placed next to any table, in convenient locations.

Worship experienceThere is a bulletin that will assist you in following along with the service.
Members of the congregation are readers, music leaders and assist with the service as their gifts from God. Our worship is designed to be a period of reverent praise and devotion to God. You will not be confused by many people speaking at the same time. Good order will prevail at every worship service, as one of the brethren leads the congregation (1 Corinthians 14:33, 40 [show]1 Corinthians 14:33 [33]For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, (ESV) 1 Corinthians 14:40 [40]But all things should be done decently and in order. (ESV)

). You will be able to reverently express your devotion to God and study what is taught.
Worship styles will reflect the spectrum of personalities. Some are quiet and reserved; some shout with joy; others are simply tender and openly emotional during times of praise or preaching. No sincere worshipper need feel out of place

Prayer A special time in the service is devoted to prayer. Needs from inside and outside the church family frequently are made known. The congregation prays together. All may pray aloud but conclude with a single voice, the worship leader or other designated person praying in behalf of all.

Ministry to the sickAs in the New Testament, specific prayer may be offered for the sick. We also offer Healing Services where people will be invited forward to be anointed with oil (James 5:13 – 16 [show]James 5:13 – 16 The Prayer of Faith [13]Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. [14]Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. [15]And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. [16]Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.(1) (ESV) Footnotes 1. [5:16] Or ‘The effective prayer of a righteous person has great power’

) and/or have the ministers, leaders or other believers lay hands on them and pray (Mark 16:18 [show]Mark 16:18 [18]they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (ESV)

). Any Sunday you may see the Pastor for anointing with Oil and prayers.

GivingDuring the service, tithes and offerings will be received. More than a collection to pay church bills, this too is worship. We are a congregation who believe sharing our God-given gifts and resources is an important part of our discipleship. Our members feel giving offerings declares that God comes first. It recognizes His blessing, expresses faith and seeks His guidance in every matter in life.

The ministries of the local church are supported solely by free-will giving. However, visitors need not feel obligated to give to the work of the church (that’s our responsibility) so don’t feel embarrassed to pass the collection plate without putting anything in it. If you do, thank you for your generosity. Many church members contribute once a month, so you won’t be the only one just passing the plate on.

The Message (sermon)You will hear a relevant, straightforward message that is based on Scripture and is designed to be helpful in your everyday life. We trust that these messages will help you develop a growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and provide a strong biblical foundation for your life. Sermons are Biblical in nature but contemporary in application as current topics and life issues are discussed.

ChildrenChildren are welcome in our service. Believing it is important for parents, grandparents, and children to worship together, children are invited to our services. It is our practice to let parents and children decide what level of participation they feel comfortable with.

We don’t have a nursery during the services because we believe it is appropriate and beneficial for children to be in the services as much as possible. It may take a few visits, but young children can learn to settle down, and it’s surprising how much even toddlers absorb. It’s no problem if they move about quietly — we have a number of children ourselves and are used to some movement — but please be considerate and take them out briefly if they become very noisy, especially during the sermon. We do have some quiet crafts the children may do during the service.

Communion/The Lord’s Supper/Eucharist/MassAll Christians — no matter age or denomination — are welcome to “receive communion.”
Our Church invites all baptized people to receive, not because we take the Eucharist lightly, but because we take our baptism so seriously.

Visitors who are not baptized Christians are welcome to come forward during the Communion to receive a blessing from the presider.

Bring an open heart Come expecting to hear God’s voice and learn something about Him, and yourself!

Bring a friendWe encourage you to bring a guest to service. God calls us to share our faith; you never know the impact you can make on someone’s life by a simple invitation.
